A clear retainer fits over your teeth and comes out for meals and cleaning. It may look like an aligner, but its job is to maintain alignment after active treatment.

Common questions
- Do I need a retainer after Invisalign?
- Yes. Retention is part of maintaining the result after Invisalign as well as braces. Follow the plan prescribed for you; your last aligner is not automatically your long-term retainer.
- Can a replacement retainer straighten teeth that have moved?
- A replacement generally holds the position it is made for. If you want to correct movement, Dr. Huang needs to assess the change and discuss suitable options.
- How often will I need a new retainer?
- There is no single replacement interval for everyone. Fit, wear and damage matter. Contact the office if you notice cracks, looseness or a change in fit.
